Hi Oleg,

I have a similar situation with Justin.

For efficiency reasons, my users want to display the ProductCategories in a specific order, because of the relevance of the product categories. The most important ones are first while the least important ones are last.

Sorting alphabetically by default does not help them manage the details of the product especially because they have a large number of ProductCategoryFields.

I have tried sorting the fields inside the FieldDisplayGroup but the sorting does not change.

If I understand correctly your answer to Justin's question, the sorting of ProductCategories on the ProductEditing page will ALWAYS be alphabetical?

You can make the display group available to the PIM users by selecting the SHOP

This will make the display group available as a visible fields preset, and the fields will be sorted in there:

However, what will not sort as is in the display group is that the Manufacturer should be on top. This is apparently becauase of the fact that the field groups are still sorted in a standard way. Not quite sure how, because in my Alphabet the O from "Other Fields" comes before the P of "Product Category Fields"

That was not what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. What I need is the sorting of ProductCategoryFields when displayed on the ProductEdit interface.

Let's assume that in the FieldDisplayGroup, I have fields from 2 ProductCategories: "My second field" from "ProductCategory A" and "My first field" from "ProductCategory B". The default display on the ProductEdit page would be:

• "ProductCategory A"
  • "My second field"
• "ProductCategory B"
  • "My first field"

What I need is to take into account the field sorting from the FieldDisplayGroup. If I sort the fields inside the field display group to be:

• "My first field"
• "My second field"

My Expectation would be to get the following output in the ProductEdit page:

• "ProductCategory B"
  • "My first field"
• "ProductCategory A"
  • "My second field"

Does it make sense?

Ah yes, that makes sense. If I understand the answer of Oleg correctly that is not possible. Because the groups will always be sorted in a default way, and only sorting is applied within the product category. Maybe you can confirm Oleg?

And it might make sense to put this as a feature request.

Hi,

The sorting can be appied within each group not only for one contains category fields, e.g. other fields as well as 'Manufacturer' inside 'Other fields' group  are under the feature etc. Please, submit new feature request about sorting among the group if still relevant. Thanks.
