Existing Users keep getting deactivated, when signing up to newsletters

Greetings, 

Some of our customers have started using the Dobbelt Opt-in feature on the Extranet Module(By User Approval)

They are using the setting Create profile / Manage subscription. 

So the issue is that if an existing customer already has consented to recieve newsletters and
they thereafter sign up for another Newsletter on the same website, their user get disabled.  

In DW 9.8 there has been made some changes to this, so we in the Frontend has access to 
ProfileCreated (Boolean) and ProfileCreatedDate (DateTime)

The problem is that this only work for solutions where you are logged in.
Do we have a solution for websites, where you can sign up to newsletters without needing to login first?

Hi Keerthy

You cannot with Dynamicweb - you will have to go for a custom solution for that with a data model that can keep track of all that.

Hi Anders.

I will - but it will require a relatively large amount of new infrastructure, so it will not be high on my list. Cost benefit...

Thats alright, but I think that you should but it in the backlog, as we will be see this issue a lot of places.

Would yet another checkbox to not deactivate users that signup for even more newsletters be a shortcut?

  • My first signup to consent A, allow newsletter = 1 and active = false
    • You get a mail, say ok, active = 1
  • Create profile - you now have a profile created timestamp. You have newsletter = 1, active =1 and consent A
  • My second signup to consent B, allow newsletter = 1 and active = untouched
    • You get a mail, say ok, we do nothing as you are already signed up
