Different products in same group in different languages

We have a customer who want to have product A and product B in the same group. Product A should only be visible when browsing the group in Danish and product B only when browsing the group in Swedish. How can this be accomplished? Is it a custom solution that has to be done to solve this?

You always need products in default language. Then you can setup the active flag to be language dependent, and deactivate it on the default language and keep it active on the second language.

If you do not need the same products in 2 languages, you might need to go with 2 shops instead of 2 languages...

Your suggestion does not solve my problem because that will completely deactivate a product in one language. The use case is that a product is on sale in one language but not in another. This is reflected by assigning the product to a specific "On sale" product group. When browsing the site in language A the product should only be visible in the "On sale" product group and when browsing the site in language B the product should not be visible in the "On sale" product group but in other product groups.

Ok - so it is not the product that is active/not active in a language. But the relation to a group that differs? That is not possible.

Another solution is to create a custom field "On sale" as a checkbox and let it vary by language.
