Hi,

We want to redirect www.holland-controls.com/holland-controls/controls-retrofit to www.holland-controls.com/controls-retrofit, because we made a change in the url.
We would like to redirect the old url to the new url. We made a redirect 301 but once we made the redirect it doesn’t work, and comes back as a 404 error.

When we create a new redirect for www.holland-controls.com/holland-controls/controls-retrofit/legalisation to www.holland-controls.com/controls-retrofit/legalisation the redirect does redirect the old url to the new url.

Are we using the redirect function wrong or is there something we have to change to make all redirects work?

Best regards
Gerard

Hi Gerard

It is because you have a copy of the website with the same URL, see dumps. Then the actual page is being hit and gives a 404 because the entire website has been disabled

Dynamicweb creates the URLs so urls do not change as websites are activated or not. So you have these options:

  1. Delete the website
  2. Rename the website to change the root URL of that site
  3. Set the Ensure unique paths for each area setting under customized URLs and make sure the domain is only available for one website
