Direct Paths querystring parameters

Hi,

I noticed 2 things about Direct Paths

  • When there are query string parameters, the UI is hiding by showing the page name instead
A user might feel confuse as to why his changes are "gone"

If there was a way to still show the "original"/raw URL would be nice - Or show the page name under the field instead of replacing the value

  • If the Status is 200, the Direct Paths does not honor the custom query string parameters

@1: Yes, that is how the link control works and have forever... Generally you should not have a direct path using querystring parameters as that does not make much sense...

@2: I think that is a technical limitation because we keep one URL and displays another and removing the old qs and inserting a new for the page being executed is not possible... AFAIK.

Hi Nicolai:

@1: I beg to differ. More than once I've used it in the past pointing to either targeted search results (with parameters to filter results). I see it as a great oportunity for marketing to create "flashy" URLs for campaigns, when in fact it points to another URL. If you think of the Compare feature in Product List, you have to have querystring parameters. Anyway it's not too critical, but I find it odd the fact that data is not properly rendered. But since the argument is bad use of the feature, I can go with that :)

@2: I am not surprised it that prooves complex. I can workaround it for this scenario

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar
